Your Smiling Eyes.

Though some think laugh lines and crows feet are distinguished and maybe even sexy, some like to lessen the appearance of them. They are after all the first sign of aging.

You may wonder as you browse the moisturizer section if eye cream really holds up to all of the claims made.

Let’s look at some of the star ingredients that make eye creams effective. Eye cream is different from face lotion but when do you need it and how should it be applied for optimal results? Read on for answers to these and other questions.

Delicate Eye Skin

The skin around your eyes is thinner and more fragile than the rest of your face. Its delicate nature makes the skin around the eye particularly prone to dryness, and will often show the signs of aging before other areas of your face.

Care

When it comes to caring for your eye area, you need to treat it with ingredients that hydrate and protect that sensitive area requires special maintenance to keep it looking hydrated.

Eye creams are formulated to target the delicate skin around the eyes and deliver moisture and just the right amount of specific ingredients to help not hurt like face creams that can too heavy for the eye area. A good eye cream can lessen the look of bags, puffiness, and uneven tone while keeping the area nourished and supple. They also protect against signs of premature aging.

Give Your Skin Resilience

Fine lines and wrinkles come from both sun damage and a decrease in the production of collagen. One easy way to keep the area around your eyes firm and hydrated is through the regular use of a good quality eye cream. There are a few important ingredients to look for that will quickly rejuvenate this delicate area and make your eyes sing with youthfulness.

Calendula Eye cream does this with just the right concentration of ingredients that won't irritate the skin and dry it out further.

Natural and pure ingredients can help protect our fragile eye area from damage. At Northern Girl & Co., we have a few favourite ingredients that we recommend to quickly renew the eyes:

  • Mango butter is the star ingredient in our Calendula eye cream, has been used by the indigenous people of the forest regions of southeast Asia for over 4000 years. Mango butter is rich in antioxidants and emollients as well as Vitamins A and E. (I deleted the part about rough dry skin because it isn’t about eye skin) Its natural properties are useful for reducing the appearance of fine lines.

  • Calendula oil not only hydrates and softens the skin, but spreads easily over the skin and penetrates so deeply that it helps to lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Calendula contains flavonoids, saponins and triterpenoids, which are known to have an anti-inflammatory effect. It also protects the skin from UV rays and free radicals that destroy skin cells and damage the skin’s natural collagen.

  • Apricot kernel oil is a rich source of Vitamin A and Vitamin E and provides your skin with long-lasting hydration. It is also a rich source of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids, as well as phytosterols.

  • Arnica oil works to calm irritation and reduce puffiness in the eye area.

The best time to start using an eye cream is before you think you need one. It’s easier to prevent signs of aging than correct them, so we recommend investing in an eye cream starting in your 20’s.

Eye creams are a great way to pamper yourself, prevent and combat signs of aging, and give your eyes the brightening boost they deserve. When combined with natural skincare products, a healthy diet, lots of water and sleep, and sunscreen, nothing can stop you from feeling and looking your best.
